Wahl Firmengruppe receives complete train
Faymonville VarioMAX and Mercedes-Benz Actros for traditional companies
Wahl Firmengruppe from Remagen is an experienced full-service company in the construction sector with a tradition spanning more than three generations. Technical competence and reliability are the pillars of the long company history, which began in 1945. With the core competencies acquired over decades, our customer faces the challenges in the field of construction services every day. They handle commercial, private or prestigious projects from the public sector. The extensive range of services offered by Wahl Firmengruppe, based in Remagen, includes demolition and renovation work, civil engineering projects and the associated, order-related logistics. A downstream disposal as well as the professional recycling of building materials in their own building rubble recycling plants are services that round off the full service offer of our customer.
Wahl Firmengruppe with a wide range of vehicles
Since the group of companies is divided into the four sub-divisions of civil engineering, demolition, logistics and environmental protection and recycling, the team has a wide range of machines and vehicles at its disposal. The management regularly implements selective investments in individual machines, but also modernizes entire machine parks in the individual business areas on a large scale. Since we first contacted them five years ago, we have also supported Wahl Firmegruppe in upgrading their in-house vehicle fleet. We delivered a full cross-section of our product portfolio: semi-trailers, trailers, trucks with loading cranes and most recently an 8×4 heavy-duty truck from Mercedes-Benz including a low bed combination from Faymonville with a total of six axles.
Mercedes-Benz Actros 8×4
The tractor unit from the Actros series is powered by a 15.6 l engine with 460 kW/625 hp. Its six cylinders drive two of the four axles. A permissible total weight of 41,000 kg is entered in the vehicle registration document for the 4-axle vehicle. When it comes to the total train weight, drive train and chassis are even suitable for loads of up to 180 t. On its way from the engine to the axles, the power flows through a turbo retarder clutch. The component enables precise work even when maneuvering with high loads – and with almost no wear. At the same time, it serves as an extremely efficient retarder with high braking performance. At Wahl Firmengruppe, the tractor can now show what it was built for in conjunction with the VarioMAX low bed combination.
Faymonville VarioMAX 2+4 combination
The combination consists of a gooseneck, the front 2-axle chassis, a loading area and the rear 4-axle chassis. The 2-axle chassis on the front ist optional. Not optional: the deep and large excavator arm recess in the rear chassis of the VarioMAX. At the front the VarioMAX can be configured in two differenz ways. The gooseneck can either be fixed directly to the beams of the telescoping vessel bridge or to the 2-axle front chassis. This offers the possibility of placing the front chassis in the low bed, for example for empty runs. Putting the gooseneck directly to the loading area, the combination can also be used as a 4-axle low bed.
Measurements
The loading area measures 8,000 mm in length. However, it can be extended at the front to a total length of up to approx. 13,000 mm. The axles with twin tires and hydraulic axle compensation offer an approved axle load of up to 12,000 kg in Germany. Adding up the axles’ possible loads including the fifth wheel load of maximum 22,700 kg, the 6-axle combination offers a possible payload of up to approx. 66,900 kg on German roads. The max. total weight is up to 94,700 kg. The specified loads are individual and depend on the specific configuration. A payload of 65,560 kg is entered for the delivered train including the 2-axle bogie. If you use the VarioMAX as a 4-axle low bed, the train including the tractor still offers a payload of approx. 46,660 kg.
