Hölldobler relies on MegaMAX with pendle-axles
New low-bed semi-trailer goes to Bavaria
Fast operational readiness and a high-quality range of services are the cornerstones of Hölldobler GmbH, headquartered in Leipheim, Bavaria. The company, with a history dating back to the 1950s, is a service provider in the areas of transport and crane work. The also offer a towing service and has its own vehicle workshop. Over the decades, operations in Germany and abroad have allowed Hölldobler to grow into a highly professional provider whose services are tailored to the specific requirements of demanding customers. By putting a new Faymonville MegaMAX low-bed semi-trailer into operation, our customer is demonstrating its ambitions.
Hölldobler uses MegaMAX for vehicle recovery
Low-bed semi-trailers are suitable for transporting heavy, large-volume or oversized goods such as construction machinery, industrial equipment and agricultural machinery. They are used in sectors such as construction, agriculture and industry. These semi-trailers are an efficient and versatile tool for transports, not least due to their low loading height. The team of Hölldobler will use the MegaMAX primarily for the long-distance transport of damaged buses or other vehicles. As additional protection against slipping, the external supports were provided with a layer of sand painted in at the factory. Thanks to the excavator trough in the rear chassis, transport by excavators or wheel loaders is also possible.
Faymonville MegaMAX with 12 ton axles
The 2-axle low-bed semi-trailer delivered is characterized by a robust steel construction made of high-strength fine-grain steel. With a total weight of 49,000 kg and a payload of around 36,100 kg, the delivered MegaMAX has sufficient capacity for heavy loads. This is made possible by the technically maximum possible fifth wheel load of 25,000 kg and on the pendle-axle-system. The hydromechanically steered axles have a hydraulic axle compensation and are also approved for axle loads of up to 12,000 kg each on German roads. The overall width of the vehicle is approximately 2,550 mm, while the loading length in the low bed is approximately 6,850 mm. To increase flexibility, the low bed can technically be telescoped by up to approx. 4,700 mm. Fold-out extensions can be used to extend the width by approx. 230 mm per side.
Special equipment from the Faymonville catalog
The individually planned vehicle was delivered with numerous special equipment. In accordance with its future intended use, the MegaMAX has, among other things, a cable winch that is installed on the dipper arm recess in the chassis. If the removable neck is separated from the beams of the low bed, the winch helps to pull vehicles onto the loading area. To make driving onto it easier, the low loader has steel ramps with climbing strips and fastening bolts to bridge the low bed’s pick-up hooks. Since the vehicle is also used in vehicle recover operations, a tow bar is of course a must have. A specially installed holder for the approx. 2,500 mm long towing aid can also be found on the equipment list.
Hölldobler gets a vehicle that can be used flexibly
The new MegaMAX from Hölldobler is designed for operation with different tractor units. Depending on the intended use, the low-bed semi-trailer can be used with two- or three-axle tractor units. The possible configurations of the truck are 4×2, 6×2 and 6×4. Aside from transporting vehicles, machines or similar goods, the removable floor also offers the possibility of using the low bed as a vessel bridge. The MegaMAX has more than earned the title “flexible”.
