Buller relies on the new MAX110 for heavy and special transports

The first modern summer Olympic Games began 125 years ago in April 1896. It is not known whether the event was the inspiration for Josef and Ludwig Buller to start a company. In the same month, however, the story of the family company Buller began, which continues to this day and is now run under the same name in the fifth generation. The family business has meanwhile developed into a modern, nationally and internationally active service provider with a wide range of services. The services offered include crane rental, heavy and special transports, industrial assemblies, mobile routes and rescue services.

MAX Trailer MAX110 delivered

Even if ES-GE and Buller do not have such a long a history in common, Josef Buller GmbH has trusted our service and experience over the past few years. In this way, we were able to support our customers from the neighboring city in absorbing peaks in demand with vehicles from our rental pool. In addition, over the past 15 years we have delivered ballast semi-trailers, low loader semi-trailers, but also tractor units with loading cranes to our neighbours from Gelsenkirchen. The latest addition to Buller’s fleet is a MAX110 from MAX trailer. It is a hydraulically steered low loader semi-trailer. The delivered MAX110 from MAX Trailer weighs approx. 11,750 kg and offers a technically possible payload of approx. 46,250 kg. The vehicle can be extended by approx. 5,800 mm for extra-long loads.

Steered axles and low loading height

The first of the four axles of the semi-trialer is rigid and can also be lifted. All other axles are hydro-mechanically steered. The air-sprung axles from BPW are technically suitable for a maximum axle load of 12,000 kg. For German roads, the approval is given to 10,000 kg. Together with the technically possible fifth wheel load of 18,000 kg, this results in a possible total weight of 58,000 kg. Despite the built-in steering, the loading height with maximum load is only approx. 860 mm. With the help of a remote control, the axles can be controlled manually using pushbuttons.

Loading area can be used flexibly

Since the beginning of our cooperation, we have associated high-quality products with the MAX Trailer brand. On the one hand their products benefit from the standardization but on the other hand they also convince with intelligent detailed solutions. The entire experience of the Faymonville Group comes into play here. Detailed solutions are, for example, sliding suspension rails mounted on the rear of the semi-trailer. The rails can thus be adapted to the respective track width of the approaching vehicle. If the ramps are not required, they can be stowed in the rear area of ​​the gooseneck. Thanks to the WADER container pockets in the loading area, the MAX110 from MAX Trailer is also suitable for transporting 20, 30 or 40-foot containers. In short: Josef Buller GmbH can look forward to a versatile vehicle.

Brand new: 6×2 lowliner truck unit

We are one of the first customers to receive a fifth generation Actros type 2748. As a “lowliner” with a fifth wheel height of approx. 980 mm, the 3-axle vehicle is suitable as a truck for mega-trailers. Thanks to the third axle, the possible total weight is 26,500 kg. The axle loads are distributed from the first to the third axle as follows: 8,000 kg, 7,100 kg and 11,500 kg. With a dead weight of just over 9,000 kg, the technically possible fifth wheel load of the 3-axle tractor reaches almost 17,500 kg. Under the GIGASPACE driver’s cab works a 350 kW (476 hp) diesel engine with a displacement of 12.8 l. It transmits up to 2,300 Nm to the drive shaft. At the time of delivery of the first vehicle, Mercedes-Benz approved a total train weight of 60,000 kg. Newly delivered vehicles have a gross combination weight of 68,000 kg.

Drivetrain, steering and equipment

Between the engine and drive shaft worsk the automated PowerShift 3 transmission. The automated transmission supports the driver in driving economically and adapts to the respective driving and load situation. The system also intervenes intelligently on downhill gradients and, for example, maintains the gear when using the engine brake. If it is going uphill, a system prevents the truck from rolling back. An integrated “maneuvering mode” with crawling function enables precise maneuvering. Also helpful when maneuvering: the second axle is a steering axle. Another highlight of the long list of equipment is the High Performance Engine Brake. This is a wear-free permanent brake that sustainably reduces wear on the primary brake.

Megatrailers to match the lowliner

Our product portfolio includes numerous semi-trailers for which the “Lowliner” of the Actros 2748 is suitable as a truck. We use the products of different vehicle manufacturers. Suppliers who have megatrailers or mega semi-trailers in their range include: Faymonville, MAX Trailer, Kögel and Dinkel. In addition to the brands mentioned above, we of course also sell semi-trailers and low-loader semi-trailers with a correspondingly low 5th wheel height under our own brand. Of course, we also offer complete trains, consisting of semi-trailers and truck units, in this segment as part of our rental program. JOHANN BUNTE-Logistik receives Faymonville MegaMAX

3-axle low bed trailer delivered

JOHANN BUNTE Bauunternehmung GmbH & Co. KG is one of the leading German construction companies with currently around 1,700 employees. As part of the corporate group, JOHANN BUNTE-Logistik is one of the largest freight forwarders in northwest Germany. With their fleet of over 180 trucks, they are responsible for the entire Germany-wide construction site logistics. After a detailed technical briefing on our premises in Essen, we handed over the latest addition to our customer’s vehicle fleet: A 3-axle low-bed semi-trailer of the type MegaMAX from Faymonville.

Extendable and widenable

As usually offered by Faymonville, also the MegaMAX can be configured in different variants. The MegaMAX can be equipped with an excavator bridge, a flatbed bridge or, for example, a tank bridge with hydraulic widening. The low bed semi-trailer delivered by us has an approx. 7,500 mm long loading area with lateral beams. With the help of the extendable beams, the approx. 2,740 mm wide loading area can be telescoped in steps of approx. 500 mm to a possible total length of approx. 12,500 mm. By using the foldable outriggers, the loading area can be expanded in width by approx. 230 mm on each side. If the extension planks are placed, the usable width of the loading area of ​​the delivered MegaMAX is approx. 3,200 mm.

Chassis with “pendle-axles”

Faymonville offers the MegaMAX with different chassis components: “Ackermann-steering”, hydraulic pendle axle or Faymonville’s Twin-Axle-II system with independent wheel suspension. Regardless of the chosen system, all variants are equipped with a recess for excavator arms. The new low bed from JOHANN BUNTE-Logistik GmbH is equipped with Faymonville’s pendle-axle-system, which offers a possible axle load of 12,000 kg each on German roads. All three axle lines are equipped with hydraulic axle compensation. They can be adjusted manually. An optionally available radio remote control is an upgrade to the standard cable remote control.

Low bed for 3 or 4-axle tractor units

The hydraulically raisable and lowerable gooseneck is suitable for operation with 3 or 4-axle tractor units. Technically, the gooseneck offers a much higher payload, but the plan is to use the new vehicle from JOHANN BUNTE-Logistik GmbH not exceeding the maximum fifth wheel load of 18,000 kg. Ideally, this would result in a possible total weight of 54,000 kg or a maximum payload of almost 36,000 kg, when using the maximum payload of the three axle lines, too. Potential goods for the MegaMAX from Faymonville include heavy construction machinery, tower segments or generators for wind turbines, but also boats and yachts. Self-driving vehicles can use the option of entering the loading area from the front. The retractable gooseneck makes it possible.

Hydraulic power pack and optional equipment features

Even if the neck can be detached: As it is not always possible to detach the gooseneck in order to drive a vehicle onto the loading area, both the front and the rear end of the chassis have a bar for placing detachable ramps. By using them, the low-bed trailer can also be driven over from behind. Apart from an optionally available hydraulic cable winch, all hydraulic processes can be controlled with the help of the electro-hydraulic unit installed on the vehicle. The power supply of the unit is fed by a NATO socket, as well as the also optionally available electric cable winch.

Central lubrication simplifies maintenance

A central lubrication system from BEKAMAX ensures the longevity of most mechanically stressed components. The system reduces the maintenance intensity as a manual relubrication is carried out by an automatic system. Only the lubricant has to be refilled. Users and owners can look forward to longer maintenance intervals. After all, you don’t make money with a stationary vehicle.
